I am passionate about providing a safe and inclusive space to help people grow in their self-knowledge, self-compassion, and ability to manage the parts of their psychology that cause them distress. With my background as an academic in psychology within the university sector and over 10 years experience as a registered psychologist, I bring a wealth of research-informed knowledge and critical thought to my therapy work.
My current areas of focus include depression, anxiety disorders, stress, attachment issues, emotion regulation, shame and self-criticism, trauma-related disorders, the impact of challenging or abusive family histories, and general psychological concerns.
I have training and experience in standard solution-focused therapies (Cognitive Behavioural Therapy, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, Dialectical Behaviour Therapy), however I value integrating these with Schema Therapy and Internal Family Systems Therapy to help clients understand and relate to their thoughts and feelings on a deeper level. Clients who have previously worked with CBT or ACT but find themselves wanting ‘more’ from therapy may particularly appreciate my therapy style.
I approach therapy with values of unconditional compassion, and a willingness to honour and respect the backgrounds, beliefs and lifestyles of my clients. This includes a sex positive approach – clients with diverse sexual orientations, gender expressions and sexual and relationship practices are welcome (including kink and fetish, sex work, polyamory, ENM, etc.).
